In our curated Premium Tea Selection, Beauty Tea (Mei Ren) stands out as a bold triumph of modern craftsmanship. While its name pays homage to the legendary Oriental Beauty Oolong of Taiwan, this Fujian variety is a distinct masterpiece. It fascinates from the very first breath, leaving a lingering fragrance of fresh orchard fruits in the memory long after the cup is finished.
This tea was born from the ambition of a Fujian tea farmer who was deeply moved by the complexity of Taiwanese oolongs. He embarked on a journey to create a variety with similar flavor and aromatic properties using local terroir. Through a rigorous series of trials and errors, tea masters discovered that only one specific plantation among many possessed the soil and climate suitable for this ambitious project. The result did not just mimic its inspiration—it surpassed expectations, carving out its own identity in the world of fine oolong teas.

The secret to Beauty Tea lies in its high-tech processing. Unlike traditional sun-drying, this variety utilizes a new technology where the leaves are slightly crushed to initiate oxidation and then meticulously dried in an electric oven. This precision heating makes the tea completely different from its relatives:
Mei Ren creates a sophisticated “game” of taste and aroma. Because of the slightly higher degree of oxidation, the flavor leans toward the honeyed, ripened-fruit notes typical of 70% oxidized oolongs. It captures the essence of stone fruits—peach and nectarine—while maintaining a clean finish that prevents it from feeling too heavy on the palate.
Pouring a cup of Beauty Tea is an invitation to sensory delight. The liquor is a bright, luminous amber. On the nose, it is intensely fruity; on the tongue, it is velvety with a natural, lingering sweetness. It is a frequent highlight in our New Arrivals, appealing to both seasoned oolong drinkers and those transitioning from high-quality black teas.

To fully experience the “electric oven” complexity, we recommend using a classic porcelain Gaiwan or a glass teapot to witness the leaf expansion.

No, it is a Fujian variety inspired by it. While it shares a similar flavor profile, the use of the “electric oven” technique gives it a unique Fujian character.
Absolutely not. The fruity aroma is entirely natural, resulting from the specific cultivar and the artisanal oxidation process.
Yes, though it is best enjoyed fresh to capture the “fresh fruit” fragrance mentioned by the masters. Over 1-2 years, it will become more mellow and woody.
